PRESSURE RELIEF INSOLES WORKSHOP – PWO15

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

The main objective of the course is to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of foot relief methodology in the podological process. As a result of the course, the participant performs individual relief and post-treatment relief inserts, using knowledge in the field of foot and lower limb pathology as well as anthropometry and selected methods in the area of orthopedic techniques.

AFTER COURSE

  • You understand the anatomical, functional and biomechanical relationships with overload changes
  • You palpate the foot, which is the basis for relieving the feet
  • You distinguish between relief materials
  • You discuss pathologies resulting from overloads and/or resulting from incorrect distribution of pressures
  • You apply knowledge of anatomy and pathology in the process of designing and selecting supports:

– local and postoperative relief
– post-operative relief insert PWO15
– corrective elements and strain relief

  • You design and manufacture elements and relief inserts:

– for skin lesions in the course of microbial and hyperkeratotic infections
– in the course of pain: in the field of pathological tension of myofascial structures, neurological ailments, osteoarticular pain

  • You make shoe applications
  • You discuss pathologies constituting a risk group for fatigue fracture, wound formation, etc.
  • You know the „red safety flags” – you make a relief insert for patients from the risk group
  • You recognize changes that require absolute relief (i.e. “no weight bearing”)

COURSE CONTENT

  1. Anatomy and biomechanics and overload changes (case studies based on photographs of real anatomy – autopsy material)
  2. Important information about the physical properties of the relief materials
  3. The shape of the relief elements and the structure and functionality of the foot (heel, metatarsal, forefoot – toes, lateral and rear part of the foot)

PRACTICAL WORKSHOP

1.Design and implementation of off-loading with an analysis of causes, symptoms and off-loading methodology:

  • Overload skin changes: corns, calluses, corns, etc.
  • Relief in the case of skin lesions in the course of systemic diseases and microbial infections
  • Postoperative relief
  • Methodology of relieving foot pain and dysfunction based on the differentiation of problems:

-Neurological: neuralgias, neuropathies, neuromas, neurological,
-Myofascial (including plantar fasciitis, Achilles, enthesopathies/tendinopathies)
-Osteoarthritis (degeneration, osteophytes, sterile necrosis, inflammation of the joints, overload and in the course of systemic diseases) – a workshop of cases based on X-ray imaging

2. Designing and making reliefs applied in everyday footwear and in home footwear (on the example of PAPS footwear).

3. Practical workshop – introduction to advanced methods:

  • Relief – by correcting: the bases of toe and toe relief (including in the course of ingrown toenails)
  • RED FLAGS IN ORTHOPODOLOGICAL PRACTICE – off-loading workshop in wound prevention and therapy, ZSC, etc.
  • Absolute relief: when and to whom

ORGANIZATION OF THE COURSE

  • The course lasts 8 hours and is carried out in a practical online workshop with an instructor,
  • Before the course, we send the participants an educational package with a set for the production of PWO15 insoles
  • The participant receives a certificate of completion of the training

INSTRUCTOR AND INVENTOR OF THE METHOD

Dr Aleksandra Bitenc-Jasiejko

A researcher at the Pomeranian Medical University and a teacher at the eduPODOLOGIA.pl school.
Author of scientific publications, co-author of textbooks for podiatrists and nursing staff, guidelines in the area of foot disease prevention and training programs for medical staff in the field of postural diagnostics.
Author and coordinator of population posture research programs for people of different ages, with particular emphasis on the prevention and therapy of foot and lower limb diseases. Through scientific work and professional practice, carried out in an interdisciplinary team of medical staff, she developed and implemented individual medical products in the area of orthopedic supplies, i.e. individual orthopedic insoles and individual foot relief insoles, etc.
She concentrated her research, scientific and educational work in the area of foot and lower limb diseases, gait and balance disorders. In this area, she devoted special attention to innovative, objective and repeatable methods of foot and posture diagnostics, i.e. pedobarography, sensorimotor diagnostics, etc. As a consequence, she developed diagnostic procedures that are practical in the prevention and rehabilitation of posture defects, developmental diseases of the musculoskeletal system of children and adolescents, diabetes, overload, sports problems, etc.
She teaches the methodology of postural research to interdisciplinary teams, i.e. physiotherapists, spec. rehabilitation, nursing staff, podiatrists/podiatrists and doctors, in specialist courses at the eduPODOLOGIA.pl school
